I’m still rather new to Ubuntu. I have 24.04 and the main reason is to get away from Windows. So far things are going pretty well. But I need some help. I use a NAS and most of the applications in Ubuntu want to storage items on the computer and will not access the NAS. I have access to my NAS via the file manager, the network connection is just fine, but the applications will not access it. How and I change this? Thanks, Mike

I have not gotten very far yet. So far Libre writer, SHotwell, Didikam, Kicad, Stellarium to name a few. Actually, I have two NAS in the house, one with 8TB and the other 16Tb. I have a number of computers in the house, this new computer is only one of two that run Ubunutu, the others (12 or so?) have various Windows from 3.11 to Win7, DOS and PDP8E. If I do set up the NAS as permanent storage on this computer, will that affect the other machines? What about the other Ubuntu machine. Thanks for the help, Mike
Looking at method #1 says add this line to fstab
//NAS_IP/share_name /mnt/nas cifs username=your_username,password=your_password,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
I already have this line in my fstab. This is how I get the file manager to access my NAS.
I want to have each app to have global access to all files in my NAS. Thanks, Mike
