Summary of my contributions to Ubuntu
Over the course of the past couple of months, I have contributed to the Ubuntu community through community interactions and creative participation.
I also created a comprehensive inventory of all RSS feeds available across the Ubuntu Discourse community. The goal was to make these feeds easier for Ubuntu members to discover and subscribe to, while also enabling the creation of a centralized monitoring “Slack RSS control tower” for tracking community activity and updates.
Additionally, I co-won the background competition for the upcoming Ubuntu release, Stonking Stingray . I will be deeply honored and humbled to see my dmxplx background included in the upcoming release this fall.
I understand that I have a relatively fresh profile, but I respectfully believe that Launchpad seniority is not the sole measure of community contribution or motivation to date. Actually, maybe this could even be part of the “plans” section below: exploring how Launchpad’s karma score could be recalculated to account for off-platform contributions, such as activity on Discourse. Plans and ideas for Ubuntu in the future
I will continue to increase my presence and engagement on Ubuntu Discourse. I would also love to explore how we can further develop and strengthen local community meetings, if this work is not already underway, and potentially support Canonical in the execution of major company events, including the Ubuntu Summit.
Why do I want to become a Ubunut Member
I would like to increase my participation in open-source communities and give back in ways that extend beyond code, commits, and pull requests. I believe open-source communities benefit from many different forms of contribution, including community organization, communication, infrastructure, creative work, and helping others. I want to continue contributing wherever my skills and efforts can provide meaningful value.
