Maurone says hello!

Hello.
I’m Maurone.
I’m from Italy.
I’ve started using Ubuntu (Focal) to run a barcode printing device emulator on windows that come on WSL2 about one year ago.
I like to develop in c# .Net core that cross compiles on windows and linux (64 bit) and I love vscode.
Usually everything works great but sometimes you have to deal with third party packages of native libraries or wrappers that makes things complicated for someone quite new on linux world like me.
One difficulty is the dependency of some of them ported form windows depending from System.Drawing.Common and libgdi+.
I will open a topic requesting suggestion on how to solve with a barcode generation library that behaves unexpectedly running on Ubuntu, but yesterday I tested on a openSuse leaf WSL and behaves better there.
I hope my experience in those topic can be useful to others too, I found nothing yet abotu my problem here.
Thanks for reading!

Please be aware that Ubuntu 20.04 LTS reached the end of it’s standard support some months ago now; 20.04 tells you it was released in 2020-April (what 20.04 means) and thus knowing when its 5 years of standard support should be easy to calculate (even when Canonical provide an extra month of support gratis).

This starting page on the Support and Help area says rather clearly (I feel)

ie. your mention of focal or 20.04 would make such a question off-topic if you’re seeking help. Ubuntu 20.04 or focal is now supported by Canonical, and not here on this Ubuntu community site.

Your post here, however is an introduction, and for sure you’re welcome to the Ubuntu community, so G’day (I’m aussie).

(Alas seeking help about 20.04/focal problems aren’t welcome though, but if using a later release within standard support now, seeking help would be appropriate)

Hi aussie.
Yes you’re right, this is an introduction, as promised I’ve just subitted the post on “Support an Help”, this was just an anticipation.

I know focal 20.04 is rather old, but before joining I already tryed also on a 24.04 that is the most up to date I can get on a WSL and the behaviour is the same, I expect once I understand what to do on 24.04, I’ll get also 20.04 working.

A person from Canonical I met at Guadec recently suggested me to search for help from this community (he is also a moderator here I saw), he told me I would found people willing to help.

Any experienced user that want to try to reproduce my problem is welcome, no matter who is in charge of an official support.
