Lost both 20.04 and 24.04 when upgrading from former to latter

Yes, the partitions sda6 and sda7 are in the same position, so the procedure to merge is the same.
Backups up-to-date?

By the way, you have a huge number of kernels (lines 355 - 403).
When you are using your system (not a live session), I suggest that you run

sudo apt autoremove

This will remove unwanted packages.

Merged successfully and removed unnecessary kernels. Many thanks. Now all I need is to upgrade to 24.04 - I’ll have to buy another backup medium tomorrow - and make it the default. And perhaps finally get rid of Ubuntu 14.04 and recover that space too - using Gparted as above?
