Live CD: non-US keyboard ignored

Ubuntu Studio Version: 26.04
Desktop Environment: default (KDE?)
Problem Description:
26.04 Release live ISO allow to select non-US keyboard during “Try Ubuntu-Studio”, but only US-keyboard mapping is applied.

I tried several French or Arabic keyboard, but my top left letter always gives a “q” instead of a “a” or arabic letter.

3 different laptop PC with french keyboard tested with same result: no error message, just useless keyboard selection. :frowning:

I found a workaround:

  • continue booting until UI with Application Menu available,
  • launch System Settings
  • choose keyboard
  • enable layout
  • Add “French” keyboard
  • Apply
