Linux-firmware-nonfree Package Breaks Ubuntu Autoinstall Installer on VM Help

Ubuntu Support Template

Ubuntu Version:24.04, 26.04

Problem Description:I was playing around with autoinstall to practice and test for a video I want to make about it. I noticed that for virtual machines on both Parallels on Mac and Virt-Manager on Linux, the install fails because of it not being able to find a package called linux-firmware–nonfree. I didn’t add any of that on my autoinstall file. I am certain, therefore that that is an artifact of the installer program itself. I don’t know where to start when truing to fix this. Subiquity is doing this, not me.

I don’t know why it’s trying to get this package. Does anyine here know why it’s trying to get this and how to stop it from trying to get this package so that the installation to succeed?

No idea why it tries to install it, but that package is gone from the archive since 16.04:

I changed it to linux-firmware-nonfree and the install worked out. It had an error 90% of the way through, but that was my bad. Thanks to those who read this post and added responses.
