A post was split to a new topic: Question about Fresh vs In-Place Upgrade on Kubuntu

Thank you for the great work, especially for actualising the KDE snaps!

New to Linux (kinda), when should I expect an upgrade to appear coming from 25.10? Excited for the new release

@firealliancenx Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse

The upgrade window should appear in a few weeks. You do not need to do anything, the system will prompt you when the upgrade is ready.

In the meantime, make good backups of important data and make notes of any customizations you made in case you need to redo them.

Also, if you add from non-official sources, such as PPAs, it is highly recommended to disable them before an upgrade.

See here for more.

Will upgrading 25.10 to 26.04 re-enable snaps in Discover? I don’t personally want them on my system over Flatpak. I unchecked the box next to Snap in Discover’s settings page, and want to make myself a note if it will be re-checked.
