Korganizer issues in Xubuntu 24.04

Ubuntu Version:
24.04 LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable):
XFCE

Problem Description:

My question is about the installation of the KOrganizer program in Xubuntu 24.04. (I have reached this forum with enough difficulty. If my question should not be here, please tell me where to go, but do not reprove me).

I have used Xubuntu and Korganizer for a long time without any problem, and in fact Xubuntu has always been perfect.

I did an upgrade at 25.04, but unfortunately I had an insolved problem with the audio in VirtualBox, so I had to return to 24.04, reinstalling it.

I installed KOrganizer through “sudo apt install korganizer” and then a Flatpack.
In both cases the application now has two differences of the version that I had previously, which may seem insignificant but that complicate my life.

  1. The “Color Schemes” disappeared, remains only “Default”, so I can’t select the dark mode.

  1. The interface is correctly in my Spanish language, but the names of the days and months are in English.

I communicated with the Korganizer team, but they told me that the problem was with Xubuntu missing or out-dated libraries.

Thanks in advance.

What Qt 5 theme were you using in your old Xubuntu installation?
Were you using any Qt theme customizing program (e.g. qt5ct) in your old Xubuntu installation? Or are you using such program in your current installation?

Does the following Terminal command output anything? -

env | grep -F QT

Where are you getting the flatpak version? I’m not finding KOrganizer on flathub?

What Qt 5 theme were you using in your old Xubuntu installation?

I really have no idea. I am an end user, without greater knowledge. I think I have not used qt5ct or anything similar, because such configurations do not really interest me.
My theme has always been “Graybird Dark” or perhaps “Adwaita Dark”, but nothing that does not appear immediately in the Xubuntu configuration manager.

env | grep -F QT

QT_ACCESSIBILITY=1
QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2

Where are you getting the flatpak version?

It is distributed as part of Kontact, but I use it as an independent application.

Please post the output from running the following command in Terminal -

apt policy kde-style-breeze

If it shows not installed, does installing this package help?

As far as the interface being in Spanish but calendar days, months etc. in English, please show us the output from this:
locale

I installed kde-style-breeze and now the color styles appear.

Thank you so much!

This is what returns the locale command

LANG=es_CL.UTF-8
LANGUAGE=es_CL:es_ES:es_AR:es_CO:es_CR:es_DO:es_EC:es_MX:es_NI:es_PA:es_PE:es_PR:es_SV:es_UY:es_VE
LC_CTYPE="es_CL.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC=C.UTF-8
LC_TIME=C.UTF-8
LC_COLLATE="es_CL.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY=C.UTF-8
LC_MESSAGES="es_CL.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER=C.UTF-8
LC_NAME=C.UTF-8
LC_ADDRESS=C.UTF-8
LC_TELEPHONE=C.UTF-8
LC_MEASUREMENT=C.UTF-8
LC_IDENTIFICATION=C.UTF-8
LC_ALL=

Well, this is what was happening.

After the installation of Xubuntu 24.04 an annoying message of error began to appear after the login, related to LC_ALL.

I applied some solution found on the Internet, without knowing well what I was doing, and the error stopped appearing.

However, obviously the locals remained with another one configuration other than that of my language.

The correction was trivial, I selected the time format in the Xubuntu’s configuration manager.

Thank you so much.

Generally speaking, we would definitely recommend NOT doing this.

If you find something that looks as if it might help but are not sure, please ask here for advice before running commands.

This time it worked but next time… :man_shrugging:
