Issue with Nvidia on Ubuntu Studio

I just inherited a gaming computer that I’ve put Ubuntu Studio 26.04 on, and it has the following specs:

I’ve gotten the most recent drivers installed (the system says 595 is recommended), but this results in the HDMI port either not working at all, or outputting a slow frame rate on the external display, even when the settings report 4K at 60Hz. (I dual-boot with Windows, and the latter has no such problem.) I’ve tried (re)installing and rolling back drivers several times, but I haven’t been able to find a clear solution. I’ve heard that NVIDIA support on Linux can be dicey, but based on what I’ve read on this thread and others, I’m hoping there’s an answer out there.
