The plasma-session-x11 package will still be in the archive for Resolute and can be installed, so that should give you an X11 session on Ubuntu Studio (and Kubuntu). But the X11 session won’t receive any further support from the Kubuntu developers beyond pure packaging (which means: no testing, don’t fill bug reports).
Great, I appreciate that! Happy to know that’s an option. A lot of apps I run still require (or highly suggest using) X11 for now.
I was considering moving to another flavor, Lubuntu, and then installing all of Ubuntu Studio via ubuntustudio-installer + the PPA added on. As I understand it Lubuntu is offering X11 as standard, with a Wayland installer for those who prefer that stack over X11.
Okay… putting back X11 has proven to be buggy, even on my old PC. Guess I’ll remove X11 later, unless someone has a fix for it. Or just leave it on for now and use Wayland, and hopefully it gets updated shortly after April 17.
Otherwise the beta is working really well for me so far. I typically use the Graphic Design apps.
There is no PPA to add on. Ubuntu Studio doesn’t use any external repositories, and what was the “Backports PPA” has been deprecated in favor of the official Ubuntu Backports repository.
