Is ubuntu contracultural?

I have my opinion, but is a cuestion that I throw like a buterfly to the sky. Some one be animated to answere? thanks alot of ubuntu.

sorry for the defectuoso english

Ubuntu is open source software, and free and open source software has been around for decades, in fact it was years ago that Microsoft, a pretty large player in the InfoTech world, declared Microsoft  Linux, and to me Ubuntu is part of that Linux the Microsoft CEO was referring to.

For some time, Linux has dominated large portions of the InfoTech world, and has advanced far from say the early days of GNU, decades ago maybe it was contracultural, but not in the modern era of cloud etc… where [GNU/]Linux is a huge player.

Moved to the Lounge, which is for general discussions.
