We also have:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu
Are both “official” or is one being phased out? Is there a reason for 2 forums etc.
Just after some clarity here, casual ask really.
Cheers

Back in the days when launchpad grew bug tracking features (and when we were all younger, had more hair, teeth and eyesight
), support was only done through mailing lists or via IRC, there were no forums at that time…
It turned out that often times people used bug reports for things that were not actually bugs.
To not blindly turn them down an option for developers got added to turn such outliers into questions instead of closing them as “won’t fix". This has never been intended as a discussion or support platform like a forum is I think.
I’d see this forum as the main support venue (along with matrix) … some mailing lists still exist for support and some of us are also still active on IRC to help people in need but I’d consider this place here as the main support platform.
Cheers. Yeah I’m on IRC rarely now. Still have my member cloak though /swoosh
As a member you can get an ubuntu.com matrix account, so that’s the equivalent.
There’s also Ask Ubuntu, hosted by Stack Exchange. Ask Ubuntu has a different feel to it from this type of forum.
Thanks guys. Just a casual query really. appreciate your time and insights
Ask Ubuntu has always been unofficial, has never been under Ubuntu governance, and the moderators there have become increasingly frustrated with Stack Exchange’s policies and support. So, at this point, it should not be recommended.
Oh, I didn’t realise that! Thank you for letting me know.
