How do flavors bundle official wallpaper with the flavor’s (official) colors? I mean, is it simple as changing color codes in some CSS file(s) or one has to do some GIMP magic? Ubuntu MATE’s color is called cucumber-green or something like that and I love it. Would love to have the racoon in green.
There is no simple way to remap the colours for the wallpapers, because they aren’t created with SVG. So … I did some “GIMP magic” as you put it, and I offer 4 of the competition submissions which I have reworked.
I also checked ubuntu-mate-artwork on github, but there also, we only have readymade images (latest being oracular). The icon theme also needs update to match new Ubuntu style. May be @m_wimpress or @lah7 can guide us.
There will be no Ubuntu MATE 26.04 released, with much discussion about that over on the Ubuntu MATE [Community] Discourse, and even some on this site. There have also been questions/threads on what happens to existing users, including those who want to release-upgrade to 26.04 too.
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS is soon to release, after which the development branch will soon open for stonking (what will become Ubuntu 26.10) which is where the new Ubuntu MATE development team may provide us with more [in time].
I have read them. I actually volunteered in the first thread to help in any way possible.
I am resolute and ready to face the stonking task! I am currently standing in line like a true fan, for the 26.10 to open for business.
My attempt at pun aside, I am ready to maintain some of those packages. But I need some guidance/mentoring. That’s what I meant when I asked if they could guide us.
Sorry, I don’t recall all the names on their other thread (and didn’t check), let alone the names (that don’t always match here) in the Ubuntu MATE matrix chat.
Thank you for the ping, so hopefully you’ll get a reply from Martin (I’m not sure Luke will be able to help much, but I could be wrong; my interactions with Luke are mostly related to Ubuntu MATE Discourse thus are somewhat limited)
I managed to make small changes to yaru-mate.sh file and ran the script. It has updated the Yaru-MATE icons. When I ran dpkg-buildpackage, it created a lot of ‘.deb’ files. See image.
