Install fatal error

I supposed that is possible, but I just checked my download file and it says Cinnamon?

Honestly, I don’t really care whether it loads Ubuntu Studio or Cinnamon to my SSD? I just don’t like having to use the ā€œlive usbā€ to make my laptop work.

Can you start the install again and stop on selecting where to install?

I can try to install again, absolutely, but it will give me an error, ā€œUnable to install GRUB in /dev/sda Executing ā€˜grub-install /dev/sda’ failed. This is a fatal errorā€

Where should I tell it to install it, which ssd drive?

If I do the ā€œAutomated installationā€ it is asking for the autoinstall.yaml url or local file path? What should I put in the box?

You should not do ā€˜Automated installation’.

okay , I will do the interactive installation… it is now asking to

  1. install ubuntu studio alongside Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
  2. Erase disk and install Ubuntu Studio
  3. manual installation

there are advanced features in Number 2, if I need to tweek something???

As you wrote before you should chose ā€˜2’.

Okay, I’ve tried that before and I will do it again. Do I need to tweak anything in the advanced features?

Yes. You need to check the installation drive!

advanced features offer

  1. None
  2. Use LVM
    3)Use LVM and encryption
  3. Erase disk and use ZFS
  4. Erase disk and us ZFS with encryption

Did you already select a disk?

the second ā€œ3ā€ is actually ā€œ4ā€ and the ā€œ4ā€ is actually "5’

No, not yet… any advanced features I need to use?

You should select 1 ā€˜None’

Okay, I have selected ā€œnoneā€ and now it is asking for the ssd.

  1. sda 240 gb Acer
  2. sdb 1 tb Scandisk

Your choice in previous posts was 1 sda? Then select 1.

I set up the account password etc and the timezone and it is now installing it. In the past I went through everything and failed at the very end when it tried to write the Grub to the ssd??

You have not been asked if install should use the whole ssd or something like that?
