I’ve been using Lubuntu for 1 day! I took about 3 days to get it to install correctly. I have Lubuntu 24.04 LTS. I was trying to get Lubuntu 18 something to work but I bricked it… then went strait to the 24.04. My first issue is it wont get online. well, I’ve installed it on an older Fusion5 tablet, that had windows 10. I searched to see if this would even work on an older fusion5 but never found anything definitive. However, i saw many Linux users with the attitude that you could put Linux on almost anything, except new Macbooks I guess. Anyway, I’m not the most tech savvy person, but I’m trying to learn. I can type commands into the command line if i find what i need to type. I’ve taken a couple coding classes in the past, but the memory of it all has grown cold. I’m just smart enough to see that i should switch everything over to Linux. Hoping someone here can stear me in the right direction to get my Lubuntu set up. I need internet access, then configure it to work with the touch screen (i have identified a couple youtube videos waiting to guide me once the internet works). Then i will play and set things up. I’m not sure how to find the right discussion group here on discourse.ubuntu.com.
I understand your frustration. A tablet without WLAN is pretty much useless.
The problem lies with certain big chip manufacturers who keep their APIs secret/confidential. Nvidia (graphics) is a prime example, as is Broadcom (wireless networking).
You’ll have to find out which WLAN chip your tablet has. Type this command from the terminal:
sudo lshw
This will list all the hardware on your tablet. Look for the WLAN chip type and decide on the right driver.
Cheers.

I moved your post and the very helpful reply to its own topic.
There can be challenges sometimes but stick with it, the rewards are great.
