In-built microphone not detected on MSI Laptop

Ubuntu Version: 25.04

Problem Description:
I have recently installed Ubuntu. However, it is unable to detect my laptop’s inbuilt microphone. Some more details:

  • microphone works perfectly fine on Windows 10 (which I am using via on dual boot)
  • microphone connected via headphone jack works normally without issues
  • during initial setup via the live USB, I was able to see and control the microphone. However, after installing it does not work. Also, when using the live USB again I am unable to control to microphone. So there was only 1 time I was able to access the Microphone on Linux, but I can’t replicate this.

What I’ve Tried:

  • I previously tried Debian and Linux mint, but had the exact same problem. I have used the Latest ISOs for these.

Please do not suggest this in this forum without a big fat warning, these kernel are not for anything other than verifying Bugfixes, they lack a lot of Ubuntu security patches, use the wrong config (which can cause plenty of issues with userspace apps that expect an Ubuntu configuration), do not get updated and people using them are pretty much unsupportable…

They are explicitly not for production use and also never update after you installed them…
