wow you have some very old sources going on there @eperea
Time to clean up some:

inxi -r

Yeah. I’m kind of ashamed, hahaha. It’s been ages since I installed this one. Here’s the output of inxi -r:

Repos:
No active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list
  Active apt repos in: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/dropbox.list

    2: deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oracular-security main restricted universe multiverse

This is some of my suggestions for removal:

appimagelauncher-team-ubuntu-stable-impish.sources

appimagelauncher-team-ubuntu-stable-kinetic.sources

appimagelauncher-team-ubuntu-stable-mantic.sources

bionic-dell-service.sources

bionic-oem.sources

bionic-dell-service public

cartes-ubuntu-drawing-focal.sources

 deb http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu disco main

helkaluin-ubuntu-webp-pixbuf-loader-jammy.sources

rednotebook-ubuntu-stable-bionic.sources

signal-xenial.sources

Should I just delete the files and folders? I imagine there’s a command to properly remove them and clean up any remaining stragglers.

Others may have another apporach to this but I just remove them via:

sudo rm -r /path/to/old-sources/
###
Like this

sudo rm -r ‘/etc/apt/sources.list.d/teejee2008-ubuntu-foss-plucky.sources’

For all the outdated Repos
Then after run `sudo apt update` again please. ;)

Alongside the sources files, there are a bunch of other files that look to be equally unneeded. I have no issue deleting them by hand, but it feels strange doing it that way, when there’s probably a Proper Linux Way™ to do it, that I don’t yet know about.

All the `.save files can also be removed, safely!

we are doing the same via the terminal.

Ok. I’ve nuked them all, except for Dropbox. I don’t see any current repository for Dropbox in /etc/apt/sources.list.d, so I’m hesitant to delete those. This is the current output of sudo apt update

Thank you for your help so far, by the way!

Ok but that might come back to bite us, but on with the thread.

sudo apt dist-upgrade

Please do show that return.

Summary: Upgrading: 0, Installing: 0, Removing: 0, Not Upgrading: 0

Oh, and I’ve nuked the Dropbox entries. I see that there are are plenty more somewhere else. I need to understand how this whole thing works nowadays.

This is the sequence of events I’m seeing every login:

I will not comment on your sources lists

However, great that you posted these screenshots because it reminded me of a thread where there was something similar.

Do you have snaps installed?

If yes, run these commands and that should hopefully sort this out:

sudo snap remove --purge snap-store
sudo snap install snap-store

Open the Store and go to the “Manage” tab (on the left-hand side near the bottom), and select “Check for updates”.

If everything is okay, there should be nothing to update (thanks to @paddylandau for this solution).

That did it! Thank you very much.

And, yes, I’m cleaning up my sources : )
