Imagecraft 1.0 released

Ubuntu users, we are excited to announce that the first stable release of Imagecraft is finally live!

Gone are the days of truncate followed by parted (or fdisk) and losetup. Imagecraft has reached version 1.0, its first stable release. Imagecraft makes it much easier to produce disk images of any kind (whether you fancy GPT or MBR partitioning). And you can have runtime properties defined, too. cloud-init? Included! Customise the list of packages to be pre-installed? Done! Need to pre-load snaps? No problem!

Using the “mmdebstrap” plugin, Imagecraft builds a reliable Debian-based root filesystem and handles all your package installations automatically. It is also possible to customise the image by pre-installing specific Chisel slices rather than entire packages. “Snap-preseed” plugin pre-packages snaps and prepares them to be installed during the initial boot.

We can’t wait to see what you build with it. Give it a spin and let us know what you think!
