For what it’s worth, the problem seems to have been solved for me, after those adjustments that were made by Canonical’s “IS Team” (which I’m guessing means “Information Systems team”) yesterday. In my case, I’ve never used the workaround of changing the MTU (Maximum Transfer Unit) from the default value of 1500 (I just used the Netherlands server of “Proton VPN”'s free tier, when the problem happened to me).
