HP Pro Tower 400 G9

Greetings!

I’m planning to buy the model in the title and I was wondering whether some of you already have some experience with it in terms of compatibility with Ubuntu. 15 years ago I used the versions that were available at the time on a Dell laptop and I had almost no problem. I just need a computer (Desktop) that will cause as few problems as possible until I get acquainted with more than the basics of Linux and get myself started with this OS.

Welcome to Ubuntu Discourse

Ubuntu certified desktops. Filtered by HP.

Worth also waiting for others who might have real world experience with this model.

Looks as if it might only be certified up to 22.04 LTS.

Another thing to consider…

Exactly this is what I meant. I’ve also tried some things out with Manjaro on a PineBook PRO but I don’t want to remember the experience  I don’t want to do any negative advertising here but let’s just say that the hardware issues were not the only ones I had. So I really want to invest my money this time in a mainstream device tested by the others. My experience with Ubuntu back in 2010 was quite a positive one but I lacked the time you have to put in in order to learn Linux.

So what does this actually mean that it’s certified up to the version from April 3 years ago?

It means they tested that hardware with version 22.04, which reaches end of life in June 2027.

(Just to clarify, I checked all recent LTS versions and only 22.04 was tested with that specific hardware).

If you filter by 24.04, there are other models available to think about perhaps.

I see… So it’s just like a guarantee but that doesn’t necessarily mean that if I buy another model it won’t work… All that they are saying is that it might not function perfectly… Of course I know that not even an OS like Ubuntu is not an out of the box solution but I was just asking…
