HP OfficeJet Pro MFP M428 Printer

Ubuntu 25.04 fails to install this printer with the ip address. All previous versions were not a problem.

I just tried install HPLIP and it says that it does not support Ubuntu 25.04. This is my first interim install, I have used the LTS but 24.04 but is getting dated/old and Gnome 48 is 2 versions newer and Wayland works flawlessly.

I know that Ubuntu installed thier own drivers for my printers, but sometimes I wait a 1 minute or longer and I cannot be sure if they are working. With the ip adress install they run perfectly, Also I do not know if all functions work with preinstalled drivers.

Bottom line is will Ubuntu eventually add support for this printer or am I out of luck. BTW it does install in Fedora 42 which make me wonder what Ubuntu did to cause my printer to fail, but Ubuntu is what I prefer. Would adding the Fedora desktop in Ubuntu possibly allow me to install my printer?
