Thanks. Not seeing the link though.
I would be grateful for a bit more help here.
I have set up thunderbird with chat but I get this error message:
Error: invalid base_url for m.homeserver.
I have never used any chat before so I have no idea what I am doing.
Just use the web chat. Element is the preferred client snap install element-desktop
if you would like.
Sorry, but how does web chat work with this forum? Can find nothing about chat on the discourse web page.
It has nothing to do with this forum, but is a completely different site.
Simply clicking on this will take you to where you need to be: https://matrix.to/#/#support:ubuntu.com
It will bring-up a website in a new tab that says this:
Click on “Continue” and it will expand to this:
Click on “Continue in Browser” and follow the instructions on how to sign-up for a free matrix.org account, after which you can access the Ubuntu Support chat.
Thunderbird for IRC chat is perfect also for email and XMPP “at least for me”, but if you want work with matrix Element is great choice for web, mobile and desktop
@xidme Thanks for the recommendation. Of note, @triplemaya and @andrew-1dtv are the same user, just a duplicated account (we moderators are aware, normally that situation isn’t allowed).
I suspect your confusion comes from a previous conversation where, when you were unable to post, it was suggested that other support avenues were available, such as matrix.
As you now have access here, and have resolved the access issues, you’re likely not to need access to matrix.
Unless of course you would like to have a real-time chat conversation with people.
