How to use grim without error?

I can’t get grim to work. Using wayland, I get the error composer wlr-screencopy-unstable-v1. I am trying to take screenshots in python and nothing works because it give unstable-v1 errors in everything wayland like wlr-rand. What is the current state of wayland and scripting screenshots? what is the proper way to use grim? Specifically how to specify the geometry for capturing a specific montior? Maybe that is what I got wrong?

I am on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
