How To Adjust The Words On The Screen

How do I increase the size of the words?
How do I share an image showing what all I’m talking about?

The words everywhere are way too small.
The time is very small.
The words on the web browser tabs are very small.
The words on the web browser bookmark panel is very small.
Most things on my screen are very small.

What ?buntu do you use? what version?
How big is your monitor? what resolution do you use?

As @corradoventu says, what you’re running can matter.

I’m using Ubuntu resolute and logged into a Lubuntu/LXQt session currently, and I can use Ctrl>+ to increase the size of the text on this firefox window… If I was using a terminal I’d use the same key, in fact it worked with both open qterminal and xfce4-terminal terminals I have open, plus my featherpad text editor… To reduce size I’ll just use Ctrl>-

That will not work with a time on the panel, as configurations for panel are set via Configure Panel, and as I don’t have a release, the link I’ll provide matches my own resolute, ie. https://manual.lubuntu.me/master/5/5.1/lxqt-panel.html (adjust URL to match your unstated release; ie. replace MASTER [in url] with STABLE if using 25.10, or LTS if using the older 24.04 to see the appropriate manual for your unstated release)

I skipped that sorry, but in this EDIT post window (REPLY or CREATE TOPIC is identical) there is a picture icon which is what is used to UPLOAD or use a picture

FYI: I actually stole that [example] image from Getting the Most Out of Our Discourse Part 3: The Importance of Topic Lifecycles where @rubi1200 has written a number of posts recently about getting the most of Ubuntu Discourse - they’re well worth a look !

There is a system-wide accessibility option to increase the size of text. This might only be applicable for GNOME DE.

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor 1.35

You can change the value however you like. I find that 1.35x is good for my aging eyes

What commands and such would I use to gather the requested info?
The settings I need to change may be in the system BIOS/UEFI…i dunno
(I went through some major medical things recently, it’s almost like I turned dumb. Please forgive me for the repeated questions about things I knew in the past.)
I know I’m using Lubuntu 22.04 LTS Jammy.
The monitor size is a 15" to 16" Lenovo IdeaPad Slim…not sure the exact size.
I got it from Walmart with the most recent Windows 11 Home installed.
It still had the option to go to the most recent Windows 10 Home.

If you refer to the Support and Help rules you’ll quickly note only the following jammy are on-topic here

For Lubuntu the on-topic questions are limited to releases Lubuntu 24.04 LTS, Lubuntu 25.04 & Lubuntu 25.10.

As such I’ve closed this question.

Lubuntu 22.04 LTS Release Announcement stated

Lubuntu 22.04 LTS will be supported for 3 years until April 2025. Our main focus will be on this and future releases.

@WyattWhiteEagle reported upgrading to Lubuntu 24.04 LTS which is on-topic here. Thread re-opened.

Yes, I am now on Lubuntu 24.04.3.
As I mentioned, I went through some major medical down-fall’s.
What command’s would I used to gather the most relevant information?

Open the Application Menu.
Preferences → LXQt settings → Appearance → Font

Cheers.

Um…is it my brain playing tricks on me or is the system slowly reverting back to default settings for the words and display?

How do I increase the size of letters and buttons on the title bar in the image below?

The buttons are referred to as icons, with them having a size setting measured in pixels…

Refer https://manual.lubuntu.me/lts/5/5.1/lxqt-panel.html

Font size is found in this section of the Lubuntu manual (Font)

https://manual.lubuntu.me/lts/3/3.2/3.2.2/appearance.html

What you show makes changes at the bottom of the screen.
The top of the screen is the parts that are very small.
I need to enlarge the ones on the top of the windows.

I reckon you need to adjust the font size in the Window Manager (i.e. Openbox) Preferences

Application Menu > Preferences > Openbox Settings > Font > Active Window Title
Many settings there to investigate

Isn’t there a “screen scaling” setting that allows to set scaling in a central place in lubuntu ?

EDIT: looks like someone pointed to it in the below post before…

That worked.
Thanks a bunch for all the help.

Future solution seekers, I suggest starting with the above solution then proceeding to the other advices mentioned here.

That “order of operations” is what worked for me.
I had to undo everything I did before proceeding with the steps in the solution post. Timeshift came in handy for doing that.
