How can I suggest an audit mechanism for Ubuntu Pro active users?

I have a 5 system Ubuntu Pro license and I’ve installed Ubuntu Pro on four systems. But today I see https://ubuntu.com/pro/dashboard showing 7 active users.

I tried the chat and I was told there’s no mechanism to audit active users, and that suggesting an audit mechanism in the chat was useless. How can I suggest one?

I’d rather not lose Ubuntu Pro because there are three extra systems connecting with my token.

(I rarely check the dashboard. It’s probably been over a month. I have no idea how long the count has been off.)

To address questions on my account, here’s one of the answers I gave during the chat: I have no old system with UP installed. I don’t have any VMs on any of the systems with UP. I haven’t cloned any of the systems I installed UP on. I don’t have any temporary or test machines with UP installed. I only have 4 Ubuntu machines that have been powered on in the last 24 hours.

I assume there is a backend db with user’s email, token, machine

for each machine sudo pro attach [token]

I have two servers connected but cannot get info about their details.

If you go to dashboard you have the explanation:

Yes, but the explanation doesn’t match my expectations. I’ve installed the token on four machines but seven machines with the token have contacted in the last 24 hours. I would like a mechanism to audit the machines, to find out where the machines are coming from.

These 4 machines have they been shutdown and re-started in the last 24 hours.

I only have one physical machine but I have 3 installs of Ubuntu on it. Two of those installations (20.04 LTS and 24.04 LTS) are attached to Ubuntu Pro.

I expect that if I shutdown the install of 24.04 that I am using at present and rebooted into 20.04 then the Active machines list would increase from 1 to 2.

Could this be what is happening?

Have you considered that this audit mechanism that you desire would require Canonical to hold more personal information that many users would not be happy to give?

Regards

When I started using Ubuntu I also activated Ubuntu Pro. And as I reinstalled on same machine (as far as I know a new install counts as new machine in pro) the count in dashboard was higher (for about 24 h) then my used installs. Did you reinstall some of your machines in last 24 h?

Isn´t Landscape the management tool for pro devices?

I have restarted two of the machines in the last 24 hours, but with the same version of Ubuntu. I have not reinstalled.

It also says “(Beta)” on the machine counter on the dashboard, so it could be a bug.
