If you’re new, please say hello! Here’s a template to help you get started - feel free to use it or to create your own intro!
Who are you? Hi. My name is Daniel, but if you are in a hurry, Dan is also acceptable.
Where you are - Currently live in Iowa, but have lived in Minnesota and Illinois (in the United States of America). I also live online until my eyes and body tell me to go to sleep.
When did you start using Ubuntu? I installed Ubuntu 16 on a windows box inside oracle virtualbox in 2016… and the rest is history!
What do you want to do? Stop being a lurker and say hi every now and then.
How can we help you get started? Plees halp me! ![]()
This is of course an intro, but I do need help upgrading from Ubuntu 22 to 24…
Other stuffs - I started using Ubuntu to build websites and IIS really wasn’t cutting it. From this, I joined and started hosting a diaspora* pod which quickly got me hooked on the culture and spirit of FLOSS. I slowly began adding more and more software that I tinkered with, and eventually adopted a Docker first mentality (and like good tax law, with many exceptions). I made the leap from Ubuntu VM to physical in the last 2 years of so, and I will never go back to Windows.
More stuffs - I am a consultant for a Swedish software company working full remote in my basement (yes… it is dark, cold, and sometimes ominous: but I do like to go for -short- runs, ride my bike, and hang outside with my kiddos). I have fully embraced using AI in my day to day life as long as it fulfills a need that solves an existing issue or can make life easier. Check out my GH page if you’d like.
Here are some of the things I have used/made that are greatly beneficial to me in my everyday or learning experiences…
