Hello from Poland! (Viktor Pashaiev / steelf)

Hi everyone!

I already wrote a couple of posts in the support section, so I think it is time to introduce myself.

My name is Viktor Pashaiev (aka steelf). I have been living in Poland for many years, but I am originally from Ukraine. For a long time, I worked as a Linux Engineer at a big consulting company. My work included DevOps, SRE, Support, Architecture, and God knows what else :-))

Until recently, I was under something like an NDA, but even more strict… But at the end of August, I am finally free! So I decided to join you here, read, learn new things, and help the community as much as I can.

I have been working with Linux since 2004. My first distribution was Slackware, and then it all started

That is a short story about me  Happy to join the community!

Welcome!

I was just mentioning you to some other people saying, “Where did this absolute rockstar come from?” I mean, I lead an official flavor and a half (the technical side; my wife is the real lead on that one), and your knowledge and ability to get down to the nitty-gritty of tough questions has blown me away! You have come in and done some amazing stuff in a very short amount of time!

Thanks for your help, and again, welcome!

Haha, thank you Erich, you just made my day! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

And believe me, I definitely know who you are! A while back, some musician friends asked me to build and set up an audio recording box for their band. That was actually the first time I ran into your name and saw how much work you put into the project.

Huge respect to you and your wife for everything you guys do with Studio and Edubuntu.

Really happy to be here and always glad to help out where I can

Self deprecation - an admirable quality

We are also delighted to welcome you here.

Now, if you could amend your original post from a couple of posts to three posts, I’m sure that I will be able to convince the moderators to only give you a yellow card

Ah, classic British humor!

Back in school they taught us “Ukrainian English” - over there, “a couple” basically means “anything more than one” :))

Deal on the yellow card! I’ll try to behave from now on
