Has anybody managed to install Ubuntu 25.04?

If the standard method to “Send” a report to Canonical doesn’t work you could try the method explained at the link below to the ubuntu.com site. Posting it here for members who are simply volunteer contributors supporting Ubuntu won’t be of much use and developers are not likely to see anything here.

Today i installed succesfully from ISO dated Feb 17 and new installer (autorefreshed)

I tried installing the daily/pending version downloaded this afternoon here in UK but it would not open the installer or do anything so I gave up for now.

I normally use Xubuntu so, knowing that Xubuntu uses a different installer I immediately downloaded the daily/pending iso for Xubuntu 25.04, which installed without a problem and was simple to set up exactly as I normally use my Xubuntu systems.

I’ve spent the rest of this evening running it in KVM/QEMU and so far it’s been a delight with no problems at all.

I’m running 25.04 since it’s launch. I have installed it a couple of times this week. Yes! the installer is in development right now, but that is normal for a dev version. Right now I am installing 24.10 that is working just fine and then upgrading to 25.04. If I use apt-get instead of apt the upgrade will save all of the downloads in /var/cache/apt/archives and I can copy them over to another system to reduce upgrade time on my other systems.
Running development OS’s will usually require workarounds somewhere. Good luck!

Installer launches successfully and installation went smoothly.

Have not tested anything else yet.

I can confirm, the ISO version from today (2025-02-24) installed without any issues.

However, once installed, I still only get a “black screen” after the reboot :expressionless:

Maybe silly question, but did you verify the ISO and the installation media?

Used zsync to update the ISO (a few days old), the checksums matched, and the install ran successfully. Rebooted the system successfully. update ran, getting a few more files. Looking like app testing can be started on the standard (for me) wayland/gnome desktop.

I was referring to the OP who is still reporting issues, albeit of a different sort.

You mean like check the CRC value?

Not really. But I downloaded and tried pretty much every Ubuntu 25.04 Build ISO from every day that was released in the past weeks. They all had the same problem, except for today’s build that at least does install (but then shows “black” screen after reboot). So, probably not caused by a corrupted download. Plus: The 24.10 and 24.04 ISO’s have not problem at all.

Yep:

On top of that, you should validate the installation media itself, too. Often the tools we use to create the bootable media do this naturally, but you should make sure.

And they all could have download errors. This would explain why your experience is different than everyone else who commented here.

Extremely unlikely. But, just to be sure, I checked the ISO that I downloaded today:

$ sha256sum plucky-desktop-amd64.iso

Perfect match:

Having done this for years, you would be surprised how likely it actually is.

Did you check the installation media, too?
