Here is some interesting info on the driver support of Alder Lake. Most everything else in that paragraph seems to be wrong, though, because that’s just how the Firefox snap works. The mesa-2404 content package is automatically pulled in. And it most probably is the exact same for all snap installations, because they must work on older Ubuntu releases as well, so the author misunderstood that part of the picture. And to prove him wrong, Firefox snap says my Mesa version is 25.0.7.0. So why am I seeing the same as him, when I am still on Ubuntu 24.04? He sees the same because he sees the mesa-2404 snaps contents, against which the Firefox snap is built, that’s why. The mesa version of Ubuntu 26.04 is 26.0.3. But he did get the part about the rather older Mesa 25.0.7 not supporting Alder Lake properly right.
Note to self: Never run vainfo outside the Firefox sandbox, because it looks at the host’s VA-API drivers.
