Greetings Ubuntu, From Jason

Hello! My name is Jason and I hail from California! I can’t remember the first release that I’ve used, but I’ve been a long time deployer of the latest Ubuntu server whenever I need it.

My software development journey began in high school when I joined a robotics competition team (FRC). I have always wanted to pursue a passion in technology since I was a younger kid, but didn’t know where to start. Within this program and in a competition environment I flourished as a programmer. I excelled due to the countless resources, documentation, projects, and libraries that were available to me. If it weren’t for that program, the community surrounding it, and open-source software I wouldn’t be the engineer that I am today.

I’m a young engineer who has been working professionally for the past two years in the aerospace industry. The products and environment that I worked in were very niche and product specific. Whereas before I was getting my toes wet in many different types of projects and pursuits, for the past two years I have been completely immersed in my professional tasking!

Before I have been long wanting to contribute to a project in my free-time but have never gotten around to it. I also need to broaden my horizons as a developer. Thus, I believe that joining and contributing to Ubuntu is a fantastic use of my time. I can not only contribute to a welcoming and empowering community, but also advance my knowledge in the underlying operating system that my software has targeted.

Please let me know if there is anything that a newcomer such as myself can assist with! I know that the community has already provided much getting started documentation, but if there is anything else that you could point me towards I would greatly appreciate it!
