As part of our ongoing efforts to improve the experience here on Ubuntu Discourse, we have made some changes to the Ubuntu Support Template.
Now, when you start a new topic you will be greeted with a form which you can then fill out with relevant information for your support topic.
Please note the following points:
Ubuntu Version is a required field: there is a dropdown menu with supported release versions. The in-development release will never be available for standard support questions.
Desktop Environment is a required field: a dropdown menu offers a range of choices
Problem Description is a required field: please try to be as specific as possible about the issue
Relevant System Information is not a required field but in order to receive the best possible support we highly recommend you post your computer make and model as well as relevant system specifications such as memory, graphics, storage types
Screenshots is not a required field, but again if possible it is recommended. Click on the Upload button to add
Error Messages / Logs is not a required field but we urge you to copy/paste terminal or script output here with any error messages that are relevant to your issue. To try and make things as easy as possible type 3 backticks ``` and then the output. No need to close with backticks, when saving the form does the rest
What I’ve Tried is not mandatory but we do recommend you list any solutions you might have tried before posting
The most important message I want to share is this: the more information you give us, the easier it will be to offer the best advice for your situation.
