Hi. I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 2GB and have installed GameMode, which is supposed to since up the GPU and the CPU, I think. My question is the launchers I created for games in Cairo Dock–when editing the launcher command, do I need to add the command for GameMode, gamemoderun %command% (is there a way to specify code on a mobile?), to the command pointing the launcher to a Steam GameID? I have the gamemode command already entered in the Steam Library. It’s probably necessary, as the game would be launched by the CD launcher command, and not through the Steam Library, but just wanted to ask.
If your Cairo Dock launcher is launching the game through Steam (for example via a Steam game ID or steam -applaunch), Steam should still apply that game’s Launch Options, including gamemoderun %command%.
In that case, I would not add gamemoderun again in the Cairo Dock command, as it would likely be redundant and may just wrap the launch twice.
I’d only add GameMode at the dock launcher level if the launcher bypasses Steam entirely and starts the game executable directly. From your description, that does not sound like what you are doing.
If you want to verify it, launch one game from Cairo Dock and check: gamemoded -s
or run: gamemoded -t
to confirm GameMode is active.
Also, minor note: GameMode does not really “speed up” the GPU/CPU directly; it mainly applies scheduling/governor and related performance tweaks
