I’m not an heavy user of this platforms, but I used forums a lot in the past. I recently deleted my social media accounts and started using forums again (I think Discourse is like a Forum 2.0).
Forums were/are used to share the knowledge in an organized platform, get feedback and create discussions. Forum posts are also useful for everyone who may have the same issue in the future.
Social Media are a flood of information. They can still be useful and helpful, but most of the posts are swept away in few days and, in most cases, they can’t be retrieved in the following years.
By deleting my social media accounts, I understood that I was wasting a lot of time sharing my (limited) knowledge (or my opinions) on a Social Media platform and now I’m using this philosophy: If it’s not interesting enough to be posted on a forum, it doesn’t worth posting

Dear @jupiter ,
With you all the way with social media.
The only one still in use is YouTube.
But it is still useful for information gathering. Would like to see it better configurable without the need to sign in. Or competitor products which don’t use recommendations feeds or algorithms unless prompted to by the user.
For full disclosure. Also using this post reply to include emoji for the first time.

Dear @jupiter ,

Great sentiment. Which makes a very good engagement principle for posting on any platform.
Full disclosure. Great post BTW. But still practicing with emoji.

Dear @jupiter ,
The link above are some tips and tricks forwarded to me by the @discobot .
Summary
The page contains some of the things tried out in the last posts. Hope you find it useful.
Full disclosure. In the last two posts was trying to create a Onebox. With very limited success.

You’ve disabled me in your preferences. You need to allow new user onboarding tips to interact with me.
It’s always a very good idea to get rid of social media, or better still not to use them in the first place, from a privacy point of view. Or if you absolutely do have to use them, do so with an alias email address, and a fake ID, and never ever reveal anything personal. And don’t post photos .
