Noticed that there were duplicate topics (about the same issue, by the same user) in the Support and Help section, so tried to flag one as a duplicate, including the link to the other in the flag message. But when submitting the flag, I get this:
An error occurred: You are not permitted to view the requested resource.
Not sure how to interpret this error message:
- Is it ok to flag duplicate topics here on Discourse?
- If this is only a technical glitch, and if bringing duplicate topics to Staff attention is reasonable/wanted, what is the preferred way to do it when flagging doesn’t work?
Thanks for insight
Try reloading the page. “not permitted to view” suggests that somebody has worked upon it since that page was loaded.
Yes, it’s okay to flag duplicates. A moderator will review, confirm, and decide upon a course of action that best helps the user and the community. Sometimes that means closing/merging (like AskUbuntu). Sometimes that means leaving both alone. Sometimes that means something different.
Please report technical glitches that are reproducible to the Site Feedback category.

Thanks ian-weisser for the reply. After force-reloading the page, I’m still getting the same error when flagging.
In case it helps check whether this is why flagging isn’t working, here are the links to the specific topics:

Not sure why flagging did not work.
Thanks for the links.
