Firefox Nightly

My Firefox snap I changed the channel to
latest/edge 135.0a1 Which is Firefox Nightly.
It works very well, the developers have done an
excellent job. Seems to quicker than regular
Firefox. Has any one else tried this version ?
The Firefox icon changes color.

I’ve tried to avoid running pre-release software for a while now, but I thought readers might be curious to know that snap experimentally supports a feature known as parallel installations that allow you to install a snap more than once.

This could e.g., facilitate having a “work” Firefox and a “Home” Firefox with completely different profiles, although personally I feel one shortcoming is that the app icons will be identical and run graphically there might be some guessing which icon is which version of the snap.

Where it fits in here is that it means you can have both the stable Firefox snap and Nightly snaps at the same time, both will be updated separately and shouldn’t interfere with the other, making it trivial to experiment between the both safely, and conveniently, the icon will clearly separate the two!

Obviously you have not tried the snap.
The color of the icon changes to another color.
Blue is definitely noticeably Firefox Nightly.
“Every 4 to 5 weeks a new version of Firefox
is released and as a result, the Nightly version
increases as well.” This is from my latest update
for Firefox Nightly.
Changing channels on the snap only leaves you
with the original snap not two.
This is done through the App Center.

You can also install both channels in parallel following the way James describes above FWIW

Thanks, I did not know that. That is interesting.

Sorry, I wasn’t disagreeing, Firefox Nightly will indeed be a different colour.

However a second Firefox Nightly would be the same colour as the first Firefox Nightly, that’s where I think the Parallel Installation feature falls down a bit, but Firefox is uniquely positioned in that it’s edge channel is actually branded completely differently, so the parallel installs work a treat for it in particular to have both stable and nightly at the same time

Awesome, an excellent job on your part.
I did not know that was possible having
two with different channels.
