Fences like Application for KDE

I spent hours and hours today looking online for a fences ( made by Stardock ) for Kubuntu. They are all for Windows or Macs, and for Linux, they are no longer maintained.

For those who do not know, Fences is an application that can organize your desktop icons and files automatically into different categories. PDFS in one container, images in another container, etc…

Does anyone know of anything like this for KDE or any downloadable widgets?

Sounds like a brilliant idea (I know I would use it).

Have you tried asking on https://discuss.kde.org? Sounds like something someone might be interested in or be able to direct you to.

Just to save you crawling down one particular rabbit-hole: searching for ‘Fences’ on alternativeto.net leads to ‘Folderview-Screenlet’ which seems like it did what you want. Problem is this hasn’t been updated and/or maintained for 15 years and it relies on ‘screenlets’ which has last been updated in 2017. Since this is all written in Python, it might be Python 2 code which would need some updating, even if the infrastructure for it is still in place …
