Error trying to use Nvidia 390 driver

I have Ubuntu 24.04 with Gnome. It is installed on a Acer Aspire V3 with a Nvidia Geforce 750m video card.

When I try to use the video card driver the Nvidia 390, I get an error message. I have to use the Xorg x server driver because the Nvidia driver won’t work when I try to update it to the Nvidia. Here is a screenshot of the error message.

Please help.

Having the same problem myself. Cant yet find a proper fix.

Guys - While nothing last forever in this world >>

The 390 version driver is no longer supported - Nvidia dropped support in 2022, and Ubuntu’s last supported release was 22.04

see:
http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3142/~/support-timeframes-for-unix-legacy-gpu-releases

Now that said - there might be other alternatives for patched drivers - as I have not used these sources I can not vouch for them.
But look at:

-hope this helps-
