I get as far as the purple screen with the kids throwing their hats in the air and it all stops there although mouse moves. The screen which normally asks, try or install never appears.

As stated above, this isn’t a place for technical support. The only reason I was walking @isaare through that issue was because Edubuntu Menu Administrator is a component that I built from the ground-up myself. Your situation is a bit more complex in that it could be your graphics card, a bad write to media, or the Ubiquity installer itself. Best to seek actual support options, though considering the release should be available in one week with numerous bug fixes, I’d just wait until then.
