Document viewer does NOT save pdf file after text is highlighted

Ubuntu Version: 24.04.1 LTS
Desktop Environment GNOME
Problem Description:
I just installed Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. I opened a PDF file that I have on a samba share using document viewer. After I highlight some text in the PDF document I did a SAVE AS to the same file name. The error that I’m getting is:

"The file could not be saved as “smb://server name/path/file.pdf”. And under this message it says: Device or resource is busy.

Before upgrading my system to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS from Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS, the Document Viewer application worked just fine.

Just an FYI, when I moved the PDF document to my local folder, not in Samba share, and I went through the same process, the file was saved without issue.

Is this a bug? Any help/direction would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you run df:

  1. Is a line for the Samba share nowhere to be found in the output?
  2. Does it also give you a similar error on one of the lines?

Also, can you save any file with any program on the Samba share? Or do you always get that error? You could do touch smb://server/path/foo, for example.
