- Uploaded gimp 3 RC 1 to Ubuntu 25.04. It will take some time to complete this transition but I figured I had done enough prep work for it. That work included more build fixes, some NMUs, and some removal bugs since the last time I posted about this.
- Updated GTK’s emoji chooser for Unicode 16. This was included in the development release 4.17.1 and will be in the future 4.16.8 and 3.24.44 releases.
- Uploaded GTK4 4.17.1 to Debian Experimental and Ubuntu 25.04
- Uploaded several packages to include fixes for a behavior change in GTK4 4.17
- Filed a report upstream for a GTK4 app that needs to be updated for that behavior change. This was caught by a Debian autopkgtest. Too bad it probably would have been unnoticed on the Ubuntu side.
- Uploaded gnome-console 47 to Ubuntu 25.04 even though the feature to open new tabs in the current working directory doesn’t work in Debian or Ubuntu. I’m hoping the Debian bash maintainer will allow the vte2.91 script to be automatically sourced which would fix this issue for gnome-console and for ptyxis, our recommended replacement for gnome-terminal.
- Forwarded a ptyxis screen reader issue upstream
- Ptyxis in Ubuntu 24.10 now supports Ubuntu’s famous purple background by default
- Filed a removal bug for the old gdl library
- Filed bugs in Debian for packages that are using versioned Build-Depends on libjpeg62-turbo-dev to allow for a future transition to a newer libjpeg API, probably after Debian 13 is released. Ubuntu has been using the newer API for a LONG time; this reduces diff between Debian and Ubuntu.
