Presence at the Lumbini Tech Month in Butwal was a successful step to expand beyond the capital city, Kathmandu, and raise awareness about Open source in more cities in Nepal.
I had the opportunity to represent the Ubuntu Nepal and GNOME Nepal communities and help spread open-source awareness beyond the Kathmandu Valley. It was truly inspiring to see the level of energy, curiosity, and commitment from the local tech community.
What stood out the most was the scale of the event, a month-long initiative organized outside the capital. It reflects a strong determination from the community to grow, innovate, and build a future in tech from their own hometowns.
The event was exceptionally well organized, and I felt genuinely welcomed throughout. A big thank you to the organizers for their efforts, and to all the participants whose eagerness to learn and build made the experience even more meaningful.
Initiatives like this can spark new waves of tech awareness and opportunity locally. Let’s decentralize tech awareness.
