Ubuntu Version:
24.04 LTS
Desktop Environment (if applicable):
GNOME
Problem Description:
A converted MacBook from early 2016 to Ubuntu 24.04.3 LTS does not wake up upon reopening laptop’s cover. It is dual boot and when booted in its macOS Monterey 12.7.4 has no such problems.
So while booted in Ubuntu, when I close the laptop to put it away and then return to it and reopen it, first thing I loose is the wallpaper. The bottom dock with applications turns dark, no application icons are visible anymore, I know they are there only by tooltip that pops out when hovering over the dock. When I click on any icon already hidden I get a dark screen with plenty of errors:
- Failed to start systemd-rfkill.ser
- Load/Save RF kill switch status
- failed to start vboxdrv.service
- Failed to start vboxautostart-service.service
- Failed to start vboxballoonxtrl-service.service
- Quite a few other error messages regarding failing to start other vbox services although VirtualBox itself is closed and I have no active virtual machines started.
- Failed to start snapd.service
- Failed to start snapd.failure.service
- Failed to start systemd-update-utm
- I/O error dev loop13, sector xxxx
- 6-7 SQUASFS errors.
