CUPS, Cannot print (Unable to locate printer)

Ubuntu Version:

Ubuntu 24.04.02
using CUPS 2.4.7
network (wired) EPSON ET-4760

Desktop Environment (if applicable):

GNOME

Problem Description:

I have installed the CUPS server and PPD From Open Printing and from a .DEB I have specified the net location of 192.168.1.205 – the same numbers on the printer’s display. I make sure I only have one printer in my Devices and print a Test document. No results. Click the Jobs button on the Device dialog and I get:

"Unable to locate printer “EPSON4E34BA.local”.

I have done a lot of research on how to get CUPS from appending .local to the printer name. on another forum called askUbuntu the top answer was they used KDE and were able to change the location property of their printer.

Printer Devices in my Gnome don’t have a properties so I am asking:

  1. Will changing the lpconfig blank out the .local
  2. How do I edit the file

What I’ve Tried:

Found another forum answer that followed Printer Properties used to be a part of Ubuntu distro.

For Ubuntu 24.04 GNOME GoTo App Center and install ‘Print Settings.’ We get a nifty GUI to discover attached network printers and select different URI.
