CPU consumption and Ubuntu 26.04.1

Ubuntu Version

Ubuntu 26.04 LTS

Desktop Environment (if applicable)

None (server/headless)

Problem Description

oHi,

I updated (of course, not that easily) one of my small system to Ubuntu 26.04.1 (Server edition).
While I was able to run snaps on it with Ubuntu 24.04,
It’s not possible anymore due to high CPU consumption ; plus it affects the whole system which is very slow with snaps activated.

Is there something possible to do ?

Thanks <3

Relevant System Information

Asking snap logs can take up to 10min
Same things for a classical command if I don’t deactivate snaps.

Find which snap holds the CPU by running systemd-cgtop -d 5 and watching which snap.* scope or snapd.service stays at the top. Then run snap changes and look for a change with status “Doing”. If one stays in Doing for more than an hour, check journalctl -u snapd -b --no-pager | tail -n 100 for the error on that change, and run sudo snap abort <id> to stop it.

Drafted with AI, reviewed by me.

Snaps are of course running normally. I don’t need AI answer. Thanks

Check journalctl -u snapd -b
If you see it constantly looping on regenerating security profiles, you hit LP: #2161845.

The fix landed in snapd 2.78 (LP: #2166403).

Update snapd to pull the fix:

sudo snap refresh snapd
