Oh, I just saw your earlier post. Glad the repo is available for Resolute now. For some reason, on my Ubuntu 26.04 installation (upgraded from 24.04), the packages are asking for libc6 (>= 2.43).
Turns out my mirror server wasn’t synced with archive.ubuntu.com. Cosmic is working fine on my PC now.

Just updated COSMIC to epoch-1.0.9 and it seems to works flawless :slight_smile:

btw. I’m probably gonna drop Noble 24.04 packages, since I no more using this Ubuntu and want to focus on 26.04. Also 24.04 had some issues for example with flatpak applets, which needed manual intervention.

On 26.04 LTS COSMIC works out of the box, basically ^^

Hello, I’m coming with bad and good news :stuck_out_tongue:

The bad one is, I removed noble packages. Since 26.04 became stable, I jumped onto it and can’t no longer follow COSMIC on 24.04.

The good news is, PPA is updated to epoch-1.0.11 :slight_smile:

An official Ubuntu Cosmic flavour with the orange-brownish Ubuntu design (like it’s applied in Ubuntu Cinnamon) would be nice :slight_smile:

The strange colours of PopOS are one of the big reasons why I didn’t get warm with the Cosmic Desktop.

It’s totally possible and also when they merge theme-v2 with Frosted Glass it can looks awesomeeeee :slight_smile:

Hello!

I just made clean Ubuntu COSMIC iso. It’s built on top of official Ubuntu 26.04.0 LTS image. Just removed GNOME desktop and ubuntu-session and some packages not really needed.

I made also metapackage cosmic-desktop on my PPA which comes with cosmic-desktop-minal and this containst ubuntu-desktop-mininal set of packages.

It’s basically Ubuntu 26.04 LTS with COSMIC instead of GNOME :smiley:

btw. The iso comes with some “pre-configuration”, so wallpaper is set for default Ubuntu, and Panel + Dock are positioned as on Ubuntu GNOME :slight_smile:

glxgears MUCH faster on Cosmic than on GNOME. Same PC different partitions.

Successfully installed in english w italian keyboard from
Ubuntu 26.04.0 2026.05.05 amd64 "COSMIC™ DE  Resolute Raccoon" (20260505)
On screen 'Keyboard layout' i selected 'Italian' but then on 'Create your account' the keyboard was US.
I asked to connect my WiFi personal hotspot on smartfone, click 'connect' .. does not ask for password so i installed whithout web
restarting after successful install for the password the keyboard was still US, but the started system uses the Italian kb.

Yeah, installation process is not perfect… I’m not sure how to improve this. Maybe when Ubuntu 26.04.1 I will think about something better.
