Basically, which is likely to have more sustained long-term support from Ubuntu as part of a “middle-ware suite” for coding targeted adaptive integration of User-selected software modules and functionality?
Zenity and yad are included in the default repositories in Ubuntu. It used to be zenity only, so clearly Canonical felt that the addition of yad would be valuable. However, yad is in the Universe repository, which not everyone enables.
Yad is definitely the superior of the two, having far greater functionality.
If your target is specifically Ubuntu, well, it’s impossible to say what will be the case forever, but for now, I personally would go with yad.
