Is centre used because that is English usage and center used for Americanization?

This is likely because a big portion of the Ubuntu desktop team is french and they wanted to slowly sneak in french language to convert us all !!

But jokes aside, this looks like a translation bug …

To quote Ogra, the link of where to go to post issues is right here. You can go there to open an Issue that details the issue you’re observing, etc.

Login to Github, press “New Issue”, select “Bug report for the App Center”, and fill in the template and answer the questions it prompts and asks for.

You haven’t said which version of Ubuntu, but I get the same in 26.04. On the other hand, 24.04 is correct.

I searched the issues tab on github and found this.

I have at least seven physical installs of Ubuntu and six VMs for testing new builds and flavours.

Only three of the seven physical installs show the spelling “app centre” and both of those were upgraded to 26.04 Resolute from earlier releases. One of the PCs has two SSDs with Resolute installed on each SSD and one displays “app centre” and the other “app center”

My initial post was more of an observation and a query as to who chooses and what criteria is used.

This should not have any impact, the snap, its libs and translations are completely distinct from the host system, what counts is the versions of the frameworks the snap app uses (gnome, mesa etc) and the base snap the app itself uses …

To find out about the frameworks you can look at the snap connections (snap connections snap-store in this case) to see what framework snaps they connect to. To see the base snap your currently installed app uses you can use snap info –verbose snap-store

Just spotted that the first one shows lenovo in the device name which means I cloned it from my laptop which also shows “centre”

The tracking in the centre one shows 24.04
the tracking in the center one shows 26.04
