This is now in effect.

PSA: this is now reverted due to a missing library:

MESA-LOADER: failed to open dri: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gbm/dri_gbm.so: cannot open shared object file: No suh file or directory (search paths /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gbm, suffix _gbm)

We’ll bring it back when this is fixed.

The reversion to mesa-2404 24.2.8-snap185 (snap rev 912) broke the epiphany snap.

I had to do:

snap revert mesa-2024 --revision 1110

To bring mesa-2404 25.0.7-snap207 back… otherwise I get a bunch of EGL_BAD_PARAMETER errors from WebkitGTK.

Thanks @pbui for the note. Was this still a problem across restarts of Epiphany?

I can see how this could happen if Mesa was updated under a running Epiphany, but restarting should resolve that.

We’ll soon push the 25.0.7 version back up, we identified that the issue mentioned above was a problem in the consumer snap.

Yes, the problem persists across restarts of Epiphany. I’ve tested this after rebooting the computer, reinstalling the Epiphany snap, and even deleting some of the .cache files associated with Epiphany.

The change in Mesa probably modified some internal configuration in Epiphany/Webkit such that downgrading prevents it from running properly. That said, once the fix to this snap is pushed, it shouldn’t be an issue anymore.

This is now done. And more characters to make the 20 characters minimum.
