I am running Xubuntu 22.04 LTS. I am trying to use the Buttercup password manager on Xubuntu. I can’t make the feature for Custom Fields work. If anybody else is using Buttercup and can tell me how to use Custom fields, I would appreciate it.
There are a couple of issues to address here.
Firstly, since this app is not in the official repositories support may be limited to whether or not any of our volunteer users have experience with it.
Perhaps more important is that the project appears to have been closed down, meaning active development has ended.
Additionally, it seems you are not the only one with this problem:
However, no replies there (but you could try searching through the Issues section to see if anyone had a workaround).
Hope this helps somewhat.
rubi1200,
Thanks for the response. I really appreciate it. As aung-st’s issue has been closed, is there any way I could contact him/her. I am very inexperienced in using this website, but I don’t see any private messaging capability.
Thank you very much.
Ralph
They do not appear to have an account here on Discourse.
You can sign up for free on GitHub and try contacting them there I suppose. But as far as I know there is no private messaging function on that platform.
Easy answer: Click on Add Custom Field; then click on the text “Click to Enter”; a new box appears under the “Click to Enter” text. Type in the name of your custom field and then type in the value of the custom field. Click Save. Thus the custom field is really 2 fields: The name of the field, followed by the value of the field. The author fooled us.
Thank you for coming back and sharing the solution with the community.
