Problem Description:
I have recently installed Ubuntu. However, it is unable to detect my laptop’s built-in microphone. Microphone works perfectly fine on Windows 11 (which I am using via dual boot).
Relevant System Information:
- Device name: MSI Vector A18 HX A9WHG with AMD Ryzen 9 CPU and Nvidia RTX 5070 GPU (https://www.msi.com/Laptop/Vector-A18-HX-A9WX/Specification)
- Microphone: its name is AMD Array Device, and its using Realtek(R) audio drivers on Windows 11. Not sure of the exact model.

What I’ve Tried:
Using hdajackretask from alsa-tools-gui to ‘override’ 0x13 and 0x18 to ‘Internal microphone’ did not help. Internal microphone - Family 17h/19h HD Audio Controller appeared in settings but the loudness bar did not move while I was yelling.
Similar issue has been reported here, but it hasn’t been resolved and mentioned link to askubuntu.com is dead:
